Lightning kills one soldier, injures 10 in the Philippines

A soldier was killed and 10 others were injured when they were hit by lightning while on patrol outside the Philippine capital, the army said Sunday.

The soldiers were struck when they were patrolling the town of San Jose del Monte in Bulacan province in heavy rain on Saturday, it said in a report.

Four of the injured soldiers were in a serious condition. The other six suffered only slight injuries.
