Heavy winds and rains injured 10 people and damaged some 80 homes on Venezuela's Caribbean coast Monday, authorities said.Rains pounded the coastal area of Chichiriviche some 250 kilometersmiles) northwest of the capital.
Wind blew the roofs off 80 homes, 10 of which were completely destroyed, municipal engineer Isaac Lombana said.
Authorities in the tourist region have warned people about downed electricity cables.
In Caracas rains caused a torrent of water that blocked the main east-west highway through the capital.
The army's meteorological service warned bad weather could last for a month and a half.
