Strong quake rocks southern Siberia
MOSCOW (AFP) Nov 17, 2003
A violent earthquake measuring up to 5.9 on the Richter scale rocked the Russian region of Buryatia in southern Siberia early Monday, the ITAR-TASS news agency reported.

No casualties or damage were reported, local emergency officials said.

It was the second such earthquake in Buryatia in 24 hours. Tremors measuring up to 4.9 on the Richter scale hit the region early Sunday.
