A violent earthquake measuring up to 6.5 on the open-ended Richter scale rocked the Russian region of Buryatia in southern Siberia early Tuesday, the ITAR-TASS news agency reported.No casualties or damage were reported, local emergency officials said.
It was the second such earthquake in Buryatia over the past week, with tremors measuring up to 5.9 on the Richter scale registered in the region early Thursday.
