Cold claims five lives in Nepal
KATHMANDU (AFP) Dec 30, 2003
Five people died in Nepal as temperatures dipped across the kingdom, bringing snow and drizzle to the hills around the capital Kathmandu, officials said Tuesday.

Four people, most of them elderly, died late Monday in the southeastern Dhanusha district and a fifth man aged 65 died in nearby Mahottari, a home ministry official said.

They were the first cold deaths reported this winter in Nepal. Neighbouring India has reported 128 deaths and Bangladesh another 30.
