Landslide in Indonesia kills mother and three young children
JAKARTA (AFP) Jan 06, 2004
A landslide which swept through a small Indonesian village has killed a mother and her three young children, reports said Tuesday.

The landslide hit their home at Wanahayu village in the Majalengka district of West Java after heavy rain on Sunday evening, said local official Umar Ma'aruf, quoted by the state Antara news agency.

Police, troops and villagers searched for about six hours before finding the body of the woman and her children aged nine, five and three. Her husband was dragged for some 30 meters (99 feet) but survived.

Indonesia's rainy season often triggers landlides and floods.
