Vestas of Denmark to build Australian wind farm COPENHAGEN (AFP) Aug 31, 2004 Vestas Wind Systems, the world's leading producer of wind turbines, said Tuesday it has won an Australian contract for 54 generators from a three-company consortium named Walkaway Wind Power. Under the terms of a 95-million-euro (115-million-US-dollar) deal, Vestas is to install 1.65 megawatt generators near the western town of Geraldton by November 2005, providing total capacity of just under 90 megawatts of electricity. Walkaway Wind Power is a joint venture of Renewable Power Ventures, Babcock and Brown, and National Power and Carbon Solutions, a Vestas statement said.
