![]() HANOI (AFP) Nov 28, 2004 Vietnam's death toll from flash floods and landslides triggered by Typhoon Muifa has risen to 33, with four others missing and feared dead, officials said Sunday. The deaths all occurred in central Vietnam, with Quang Ngai, Quang Nam, Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Tri the worst hit areas, said a regional flood and storm official from the city of Danang. "As well as the deaths, 10 people were also injured and four are missing, while more than 9,000 houses and over 7,500 hectares of crops have been flooded in central parts of the country," he said. Floodwaters also submerged parts of the main north-south railway line, disrupting services. Authorities in the region are continuing to evacuate people from flooded areas and provide victims with food, medicine and shelter, the official said. The typhoon, which killed 61 people in the Philippines, hit Vietnam on Thursday. All rights reserved. 2005 Agence France-Presse.
