Two die in Polish Tatra avalanche: rescue service
WARSAW, Dec 30 (AFP) Dec 30, 2009
Two people were killed and three injured Wednesday in an avalanche in Poland's Tatra mountains, the country's rescue service said.

The service's chief, Jan Krzysztof, told the Polish news channel TVN24 that the three injured individuals were in hospital, one of them in critical condition.

The avalanche occurred in the 2,499-metre (8,197-foot) Rysy range, which draws large numbers of winter tourists. A similar accident there killed eight people in January 2003.
