Software for 911 emergency call handling by PowerPhone has been updated to allow integration with computer-aided dispatch systems.

PowerPhone, a provider of 911 call handling protocols, says the update to its Total Response CACH 5.0 software features an application programming interface which automates the information-gathering process in handling 911 calls to help operators to provide more accurate information to responders.

Scripts of 911 calls are filtered to speed dispatch of help and would contain information such as descriptions of vehicles, persons and weapons, the company said.

"PowerPhone is focused on continuously improving its technology, training and protocols to raise the standard of care in the industry," said Jerry Turk, vice president of PowerPhone. "Technology integration is vital when budgets and resources are diminishing. Our software was created to be accessible with any point solution."

The software update also includes multi-language support for public safety answering points. Another feature is a Protocol Builder Mapping tool.
