Copenhagen airport closed in cold snap COPENHAGEN, Jan 20 (AFP) Jan 20, 2006 Copenhagen airport was closed to traffic late on Friday due to a cold snap which prevented the de-icing of the wings, an airport spokesman said. The airport was closed totally at 7:00 pm (1800 GMT). Earlier planes bound for Copenhagen were rerouted to neighbouring airports and departing planes suffered long delays due to the heavy snow. "It's practically impossible for the deicing teams to work because as soon as they have de-iced a wing, it freezes up again," the spokeswoman Anette Haaning said. More than 150 flights were cancelled earlier in the day due to snowfall, causing travel disruption for thousands of travellers, before the airport was closed altogether.
