Under the contract, Raytheon Technical Services Company will continue to provide science, operations and maintenance support for the U.S. Antarctic Program, the nation's scientific research program in the Antarctic, to include all labor, materials, facilities and equipment. Work is performed in Antarctica, South America, New Zealand and the United States.
The U.S. Antarctic Program is the national program for scientific research and geopolitical presence in Antarctica, the world's southernmost continent.
This presence includes the conduct of scientific activities in major disciplines, year-round occupation of the South Pole and two coastal stations, and logistics, operations, communications, maintenance and construction services for the program.
