EMS Techs To Supply UHF Satellite Antenna To Astrium

EMS Technologies, Inc. has received an authorization to proceed (ATP) on advanced UHF antennas for a new military program currently in production at Astrium. Full contract signature is expected shortly. Financial details were not disclosed.

The UHF antenna for this program is a large deployable helix design with separate receive and transmit elements that provide global coverage. Two shipsets are to be provided with an option for a third set.

Alan L. Haase, senior vice president and general manager of the Space & Technology/ Montreal Division, commented, "EMS has, for many years, enjoyed a close relationship with Astrium, one of the world's foremost satellite manufacturers.

"These UHF antennas are the next important contribution that EMS will make to Astrium, and we are pleased to be continuing this long-term relationship with one of our most important customers."

Northrop Grumman Opens Facility For Production Of Phased Array Antennas

Northrop Grumman Corporation, which is developing the satellite communications payloads for the Department of Defense's Advanced Extremely High Frequency (EHF) program, has opened a multimillion-dollar facility to produce phased array antennas for the satellites.
