Ambient Receives First DOD Contract For Its Battery-Free Technology Ambient Control Systems has announced that the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics RD&E Center (CERDEC), Ft. Monmouth, NJ awarded Ambient a $150,000 sensor selection study contract. This award represents Ambient's first DOD contract and is the first step toward the award of a development contract to power DOD sensors designated by CERDEC. Over the past year, Ambient has increased the focus of its battery-free power technology on the DOD market. A SOCOM development contract, for which Ambient was selected, is expected to be awarded later this month. Ambient, a technology leader in the harvesting of alternative energy sources, has developed a battery-free technology that will power remote sensors and other remote operations for 10-20 years in extreme temperature environments. Ambient's "field and forget" power technology provides a long life cycle and high reliability for critical military and homeland security applications that rely on unattended sensors for detection and ongoing monitoring.
