Whaling plan would OK hunts but seek fewer kills
Tokyo (AFP) Feb 24, 2010
The global body that regulates whaling has proposed giving the green light to Japan to keep hunting the sea mammals in return for reducing the number of animals killed. Kerry insists US to move on climate
Washington (AFP) Feb 23, 2010
Senator John Kerry vowed Tuesday the United States would overcome the odds and approve action on climate change, as the United Nations set talks for April to help break a diplomatic logjam. At Haiti's quake epicenter, life goes on without buildings
Leogane, Haiti (AFP) Feb 23, 2010
When the earthquake ripped this Haitian town at its epicenter into pieces within seconds, Loockenson Bolivar ran to take cover in the unlikeliest of places: a cemetery. Global Warming May Hurt Some Poor Populations But Benefit Others
Stanford CA (SPX) Feb 24, 2010
The impact of global warming on food prices and hunger could be large over the next 20 years, according to a new Stanford University study. Researchers say that higher temperatures could significantly reduce yields of wheat, rice and maize - dietary staples for tens of millions of poor people who subsist on less than $1 a day.
