Scientists Reveal Driving Force Behind Evolution Liverpool, UK (SPX) Mar 02, 2010 The team observed viruses as they evolved over hundreds of generations to infect bacteria. They found that when the bacteria could evolve defences, the viruses evolved at a quicker rate and generated greater diversity, compared to situations where the bacteria were unable to adapt to the viral infection. Foot and mouth outbreak reported in southern China Beijing (AFP) March 2, 2010 Chinese authorities have reported an outbreak of highly contagious foot and mouth disease in the south of the country and have destroyed more than 8,000 pigs, state media reported Tuesday.
