World needs food system 'transformation' to tackle climate: expert

Paris (AFP) May 5, 2022
Food is fundamental to the efforts to tackle climate change, according to a scientist who has spent decades tracing the interactions between global warming and what we eat. Cynthia Rosenzweig, head of the Climate Impacts Group at NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies, was Thursday awarded the prestigious World Food Prize for her research. That includes stark warnings about the potential effect climate change will have on food. Her comments to AFP have been slightly edited: - How d ... read more

Dinosaur extinction changed plant evolution
Halle, Germany (SPX) May 03, 2022
With the extinction of large, non-flying dinosaurs 66 million years ago, large herbivores were missing on Earth for the subsequent 25 million years.
