by Staff Writers
Washington (AFP) Nov 12, 2013

A 6.6 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of far eastern Russia Tuesday, the US Geological Survey reported.

It said the quake hit about 170 kilometers (100 miles) off the Kamchatka Peninsula, at a depth of 47 kilometers (33 miles).

No tsunami was expected along the US west coast, the US Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said.

But local tsunamis along coasts within 100 km (60 miles) of the epicenter are possible.

The quake hit at 0500 GMT, the USGS said.

Two minor earthquakes hit India's New Delhi
New Delhi (AFP) Nov 11, 2013 - Two minor earthquakes awoke residents of the Indian capital of New Delhi early Tuesday, shaking buildings but with no immediate reports of damage.

India's Meteorological Department (IMD) said first a 3.1-magnitude tremor struck at 12.41 am local time (1911 GMT) at a depth of 10 kilometres, placing its epicentre in the capital city of nearly 10 million people.

Almost exactly an hour later, a second, marginally larger 3.3-magnitude quake also struck, the IMD said on its website.

An AFP reporter in Delhi said the tremor shook buildings audibly, and that there were at least two minor aftershocks.
