Doctors in Nebraska confirmed that Ebola patient Ashoka Mukpo continues to improve, nearly three weeks after he was diagnosed with the deadly disease. Another 48 people being monitored for symptoms were taken off the watch list in Dallas, rounding off a good start to the week in the fight against Ebola. Doctors at the Nebraska Medical Center, where Mukpo has been receiving treatment since October 6, said he could be released from the hospital within a week. Mukpo contracted the disease in Liberia, becoming ill only days after being brought on to an NBC News project as a freelance cameraman. "He's doing well. He said he was grateful for his care," hospital spokesman Taylor Wilson told the Providence Journal. The Rhode Island native is "feeling tired, not 100 percent, and like he's been through a lot," Wilson relayed. Mukpo told his father he feels like he's finally out of the woods; he recently shared his appreciation for his caretakers via Twitter. Big thanks to the Nebraska Medical Center's medical staff. Amazing people, I'm profoundly lucky to have been treated by such professionals— ashoka (@unkyoka) October 17, 2014 Once released, the 33-year-old will join his parents and girlfriend at home in Providence, where he will rest and recuperate.
