China funds Cuban quake detection: state media Havana (AFP) Nov 17, 2009 China has donated 700,000 dollars to upgrade Cuba's earthquake detection system, state news agency AIN said Tuesday. Quakes mainly affect the Caribbean island's mountainous southeast. China and Cuba are key political and economic allies, with the rising Asian giant Havana's second largest trading partner and an important source of credit for the Americas' only communist regime.
