Brussels (AFP) Sept 10, 2009 Health ministers and experts from the Group of Seven most industrialised nations plus Mexico were to discuss the response to swine flu over two days in Brussels, the European Commission said Thursday. Health experts were to meet in closed session Thursday, with the ministers to hold formal talks Friday, focusing on vaccination strategies just as vaccines for A(H1N1) undergo clinical trials ahead of release onto the market. They will also look at ways to help developing countries facing a pandemic. On September 16, EU Health Commissioner Androulla Vassiliou, who is hosting the talks, is set to unveil an action plan for responding to the virus, to be discussed by EU health ministers at extraordinary talks next month. At least 2,837 people around the world have died from the swine flu virus since it emerged in Mexico in April, according to the latest WHO figures. Share This Article With Planet Earth
