Lightning leaves two Philippine police dead, six injured

Two policemen were killed and six others injured when lightning struck them in a mountainous area of the northern Philippines.

Two policemen were killed and six others injured when lightning struck them in a mountainous area of the northern Philippines, police said Friday.

The policemen were struck down as they rested in hammocks slung from tree trunks near the town of Malibcong on Thursday, said Inspector Palmera Domingo.

The eight casualties were taken to hospital where two were pronounced dead, he added.
