Moderate 4.7 quake hits Tokyo: officials Tokyo (AFP) Nov 5, 2010 A moderate 4.7-magnitude earthquake rocked Tokyo and surrounding areas late Friday, Japan's meteorological agency said, adding there was no fear of a tsunami. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage caused by the quake which occured at around 7:14 pm (1014 GMT). The quake's epicentre was located about 40 kilometres (25 miles) north of Tokyo with its focus at 50 kilometres (30 miles) below sea level, the agency said. Around 20 percent of the world's most powerful earthquakes strike Japan, which has developed one of the most sophisticated tsunami warning systems.
