Planet Labs PBC (NYSE: PL), a key player in delivering daily Earth observation data, has entered a new agreement with the European Space Agency (ESA) to support Greece's National SmallSat Programme. This initiative, led by the Hellenic Ministry of Digital Governance and financed through the Recovery and Resilience Fund (RRF) Greece 2.0, will utilize Planet's commercial satellite data to bolster the country's satellite technology capabilities.

The arrangement allows Greece to employ PlanetScope data to aid the creation of downstream services for its national satellite program. This data will support technological innovation and act as a supplementary source to Greece's own satellite information streams.

"The Hellenic Space Center (HSC) is coordinating the provision of Planet's satellite data, optimizing tasking capabilities, and ensuring seamless integration across the downstream projects of the national satellite program," said Dimitris Bliziotis, Earth Observation Officer of HSC.

Martin Polak, Planet's Senior Director of Government Sales for the EMEA region, commented, "We are living through a global space renaissance where governments and commercial providers are working hand-in-hand to develop new innovation. We're honored to have signed this contract to inform the new development of Greece's national space services."

PlanetScope offers frequent imaging of Earth's land surfaces at 3 meter resolution, with near-daily global coverage. Its extensive archive of imagery, compiled over more than ten years, empowers quicker and more informed decisions for both governmental bodies and private enterprises worldwide.

Professor Konstantinos Karantzalos, Secretary General of Telecommunications and Post at the Ministry of Digital Governance, stated, "Access to Planet's satellite data will provide valuable data and insights for the development and validation of our national downstream services. This will accelerate innovation and will ensure the effective integration with data from our national space assets."

Planet has previously supplied its satellite data through ESA's Third Party Mission programme, which facilitated the formation of this latest partnership. Additionally, the company recently secured a deal with the Japanese Space Agency, via JSAT, to advanc
