Six Vietnam farmers killed by lightning: police
Hanoi (AFP) May 17, 2009 Lightning in Vietnam killed six farmers harvesting their rice paddy fields, police said on Sunday. The lightning on Saturday also injured 10 others in three different communes in central Nghe An province, a policeman in Yen Thanh district told AFP. "Rain was not heavy when the accident happened," he added, refusing to be named. The victims, aged between 16 and 53, all died instantly, officials said. Share This Article With Planet Earth

Lightning leaves two Philippine police dead, six injured Manila (AFP) May 15, 2009 Two policemen were killed and six others injured when lightning struck them in a mountainous area of the northern Philippines, police said Friday. The policemen were struck down as they rested in hammocks slung from tree trunks near the town of Malibcong on Thursday, said Inspector Palmera Domingo.
