Solomon Islands rocked by quake
Sydney (AFP) Jan 16, 2009 A 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck the Solomon Islands early Friday, the US Geological Survey said, but there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties. The quake struck at 0315 (1615 GMT Thursday), 170 kilometres (105 miles) southeast of the capital Honiara, at a depth of 95 kilometres. No tsunami warning was issued.
